Kessler Topaz is proud to be named a 2025 honoree for the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Partners in Philanthropy award, which recognizes impactful partnerships between for-profit businesses and nonprofit institutions in the greater Philadelphia region.
KTMC was honored alongside the Homeless Advocacy Project for its work supporting HAP’s SOAR (SSI, Outreach, Access, and Recovery) Project, an expedited route to crucial Social Security disability benefits for Philadelphians experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The Firm's pro bono practice and Committee are chaired by Partners Matthew Mustokoff and Josh Materese. To date, KTMC's pro bono volunteers have managed approximately three dozen of these labor-intensive cases from start to finish, securing tens of thousands of dollars in life-changing benefits to clients suffering from chronic mental and physical illnesses. Throughout the partnership, KTMC has maintained a remarkable success rate of over 90%, well above the national average for SOAR cases.
KTMC’s attorneys also work with HAP to staff monthly pro bono legal clinics, which offer a range of legal services, including birth certificate cases, social security-related matters, expungements, and immigration documentation needs, at homeless shelters and other service-provider locations throughout the city.
Honorees will be recognized in a special issue of the Philadelphia Business Journal and at a celebration lunch in April.
We are grateful to HAP for this incredible partnership and are committed to continuing our work in service of vulnerable populations.
