On June 4, 2024, Hindenburg Research released a report about Axos highlighting serious concerns about Axos' credit metrics, suggesting potential manipulation or distortion. Specifically, the report alleges that Axos is “exposed to the riskiest asset classes with lax underwriting standards and a loan book filled with multiple glaring problems.” 

Following this report, Axos' share price fell as much as 14% during intraday trading on June 4, 2024.
