Job Description

Overview:

The Claims Payment Analyst is responsible for receipt of class action claim payments and further allocation of claim payments to clients.

Essential Functions / Position Responsibilities:

  • Receive, record, and distribute claim payments to clients
  • Inventory and record all payment details into Firm database
  • Complete check deposit forms and deposit checks using RDC check scanner or FedEx delivery
  • Record SSI instructions provided by institutional clients
  • Prepare and input outgoing SWIFT and wire transfer payments and administrative messages
  • Prepare payment notifications and correspond appropriately with clients regarding their claim payment distributions
  • Reconcile firm’s client money accounts with payments awaiting distribution on a daily basis
  • Correspond with claims administrators regarding claim payment details
  • Quarterly review of team procedures and assist in identifying gaps and suggest opportunities to improve processes
  • Escalate any process or client related issues to manager immediately
  • Attend weekly team meetings and biweekly 1:1 meetings via zoom to discuss weekly plans, processes, issues/concerns, training opportunities, and team building
  • Cross-train and provide assistance between Department teams as needed

Qualifications

Job Specifications:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, previous relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree

  • Position related experience requirements
    • Minimum 1 year of professional experience preferred
    • Must have analytical and basic math skills
    • Must have a strong work ethic, be a team player, and be detail oriented.
    • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Must be able to work overtime as needed with little to no advance notice.
    • Must be able to go on site approximately 1x per week to make deposits, however, this can increase or decrease within the general hybrid schedule.

  • Computer skills required:
    • Strong Excel and Word skills
    • Desire and ability to learn and adapt to a wide variety of software (internal) applications
    • Microsoft Office

Job Summary:

Jr. Paralegal works with a busy group of Attorneys and Paralegals. This role is an opportunity for entry level paralegals to be trained by skilled paralegals in complex litigation.

Responsibilities/Training Areas:

  • Interface with attorneys, legal assistants and other counsel.
  • Perform investigative Internet research
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of documents including, but not limited to, court pleadings and legal correspondence
  • Assist with trial preparation, as necessary
  • Draft legal documents and correspondence, and review and check all documents for accuracy and compliance with court rules
  • Conduct Bluebooking, heavy editing and proof-reading of documents
  • Provides administrative support including typing correspondence, maintaining attorney schedules, and maintaining legal databases. Organizes and maintains legal files and document review projects
  • Complete discreet research assignments using LEXIS and/or Westlaw

Qualifications

​Education Requirements: (experience will be considered in lieu of education)

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Paralegal Certificate or Certified through NALA or NFPA

  • Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Experience with legal database software like PACER, the Federal Court filing system, LEXIS and/or Westlaw a plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills, highly motivated and able to multi task
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Relativity and Document Review a plus
  • Trial prep experience/exposure a plus.
