Galia Porat, a Partner of the Firm, focuses her practice in Kessler Topaz’s Business Development department working closely with institutional investors from around the globe assisting them in implementing systems to best identify, analyze, and monetize claims they have in shareholder litigation.  In addition, Galia works closely with the Firm’s new matter development department and its litigators.

With an extensive background as both in-house and outside counsel, she has a unique perspective in identifying and addressing client needs and opportunities in the shareholder legal landscape. She has experience advising on traditional class actions, direct actions (opt-outs) and non-U.S. litigation.

Galia was most recently an Associate General Counsel at Teva Pharmaceuticals - one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. She was the Head of Teva’s Government Investigations and Securities Litigation, managing high profile domestic and international complex litigation matters including securities, antitrust, false claims, congressional and other regulatory investigations. In this role, she led the company’s opioid litigation portfolio including the Company’s recent multi-billion national resolution which included a groundbreaking amount of overdose reversal product.  She also managed all US-Israeli cross border securities and litigation including shareholder and derivative cases for Teva.

Prior to her time at Teva, Galia was a senior associate at Dechert LLP focusing on white collar and securities litigation. She represented corporations, executives, Boards of Directors and employees in complex civil and criminal matters, government and internal investigations and complex securities.

Galia regularly speaks on the subjects of government investigations, shareholder and complex litigation, false claims litigation and other regulatory challenges in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry.

Galia served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Galia received her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received her Masters and Bachelor’s degrees from Cornell University.
