Kessler Topaz Was Honored to Receive the Pro Bono Participation Award from the Homeless Advocacy Project at the Organization's Annual Benefit on October 10th

October 22, 2024

Kessler Topaz Meltzer & Check recently received the Pro Bono Participation Award from the Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP) at the organization’s annual benefit on October 10th. Since 2022, our dedicated attorneys have partnered with HAP’s SOAR (SSI, Outreach, Access, and Recovery) Project to help dozens of Philadelphians experiencing or at risk of homelessness access vital federal disability benefits to meet their most pressing needs.

Partner Joshua Materese, a member of HAP’s board, proudly accepted the award on behalf of Kessler Topaz. Josh, who co-chairs the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, has worked with HAP to develop an innovative model for managing SOAR cases, helping HAP meet its demanding caseload, while also giving young attorneys hands-on experience acting as advocates on behalf of pro bono clients.

Last week’s event brought together hundreds of supporters, legal professionals, and community advocates for an evening of celebration to support HAP’s important mission of serving our neighbors in need. In addition to the awards ceremony, the event featured several fundraising efforts, including a silent auction and 50/50 raffle, to further HAP Legal Services’ programming.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with such an incredible organization and are committed to continuing our work in service of vulnerable populations.
